Academic Governance

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the highest academic representative and governing body of the University, and it exercises all functions proper to this condition. The basic role of the Board of Directors is to ensure that the University fulfils and develops its fundamental goals and to attend to matters pertaining to this role. Consistent with this function, it establishes, specifies and determines the activities that lead to the fulfillment of its function.

Faculty Assembly

The University Faculty Assembly is the highest representative body in the university community. It has both ex officio and elected members. The Chancellor calls the meetings of the Faculty Assembly.

Governance Board

The Governance Board is the academic body for ordinary governance of the University. Its decisions, within its area of responsibility, will be binding for any other office or academic body of the University.

The Governance Board’s responsibilities include the rules and procedures for admission and retention of students; disciplinary measures; policy for collaboration with other universities, physical persons, or public or private entities; University reports; the academic calendar; resolution of conflicts between University centers or services; and official postgraduate, unofficial University, and lifelong learning programs. It is also responsible for changes in (including elimination of) Faculties, Departments and degree programs; the system for selection and promotion of personnel, creation and elimination of University services, and establishment of criteria for their evaluation; budget; and any other responsibility assigned to it.

The Governance Board usually functions as a standing committee composed of the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellors, Secretary and Director of Finance, as well as individuals appointed for specific cases, based on the matter in question.
